Mission
We have a three fold mission:
To become the best knowledge resource for the AEC industry.
To give accurate, scientifically curated advice to anyone who has issues/anxieties in a design or construction
To give architects and other industry professionals a method to earn money in a dignified manner -- when they give useful answers to the advice requests posted in our AEC Advisory space.
Why was this setup?
People often talk quite loosely about architecture and engineering. There is a lot of exploitation in the way knowledge is disseminated in our field.
When someone is building a house, or doing their home interiors, they are in an anxious state -- Many quacks and charlatans exploit this. Such as fake "vastu", "Feng-Shui" and other consultants who mix vague religious edicts into the mix. We wanted to give a proper "foil" to the false and sometimes harmful information about our subject. The world needs properly constructed, scientifically acceptable answers.
We also noticed that many AEC professionals, especially architects in India, do not get enough projects. This community can be a way to supplement their income by providing good advice. Thus, AEC professionals can improve their reputation in society by posting here.
Who is behind this?
This community was started by Architect Sabu Francis. He is known for his work on computation in architecture. He is the author of the one of the oldest architecture design software; called TAD. Subsequently, four other architects have joined as moderators. The job of the moderators is not to police or bias others, but to facilitate the right, scientifically tempered discussions.
Who is it for?
This community would be useful for students, teachers, professors, researchers of the AEC Industry. In fact it would ALSO be useful even to those who have some kind of connection (even if it is not direct) to the AEC industry. Such as people who have commissioned an architecture / interior / landscape project. Or people concerned of the welfare of their gated community/neighborhood/etc. So effectively, everyone is welcome to contribute to the discussions happening here.
We have several spaces; each for a relevant topic concerning our field. Membership is free. We give each new member some free credits which can be consumed in this community. Everyone can participate in all of the spaces -- if you are NOT a member, then only a few spaces will be available, that too only for reading.

Do you want to post an advice request?
We have a democratic system for answer advice requests related to the AEC industry. Anyone can place an advice request in our AEC Advisory space. The panelists here will strive to answer the request.
We usually charge fees (with some exceptions) for accepting such advice requests. The fees collected from an advice request is distributed* to the panelist whose answer helped form the moderators' final comments to the original poster.
*A small percentage of the fees are retained by us for the upkeep of this community.
